In Georgia’s own words:

There was recently an article in the New York Times about the ‘lost art of letter-writing’ and while certainly true, I have just recently edited an epistolary, Write Soon! A Transatlantic Correspondence – 1956-1970.  The book is a compilation of 71 letters exchanged between a Dutch one-year student in the USA, Laetitia van Rijckevorsel, a life-long resident of The Hague and an American, Carolyn Block from New Orleans.  It started when they 2met at college in Louisiana in February 1956.  The letters written during the most influential time of everyone’s life is truly a ‘coming of age’ story, set in the United States and the Netherlands during the carefree 1950’s and the tumultuous 1960’s.  In these long descriptive letters, they shared their dreams, their social lives, their marriages and feelings of motherhood.  The fact that both women kept each other’s letters for 50+ years shows just how unique they are.

As one reviewer said: ‘what a lively, sparkling friendship these two women enjoyed, full of warmth, affection, poetry of life and literature, and sheer fun. They have happy lives, these two, with their kids and husbands, and this by itself makes reading their letters a fairly rare joyful experience.

One reader commented on the cover, saying ‘it beckons one to step into their world and enjoy it.’
