Development Grants - General Information

The FAWCO Foundation Development Grant Fund is a dynamic program which financially assists projects that are passionately supported by FAWCO Member Clubs.

FAWCO Member Clubs have been aiding worthy and reputable charitable projects throughout the world through The FAWCO Foundation for 40 years. Some clubs are working “hands-on” with their projects, others making donations of goods or financial contributions.

Each year, any FAWCO Member Club may submit up to two proposals for grants that can make an immediate impact on and lead to the long term success of these projects. All properly completed FAWCO Development Grant proposals are listed on a ballot. A winning project in each of the seven categories is determined by a vote of all of the FAWCO member clubs.

The FAWCO Development Grant Fund program has awarded nearly $185,000 to 65 charitable projects in over 30 countries worldwide. Grant recipients and their sponsoring Member Club are announced at the annual FAWCO Conference.

Some of the projects that the FAWCO Development Grant Fund has helped include:·

  • Kugeria Women Water Project, building a water tank in Murinduko, Kenya;
  • The Mfitumukiza Project, photo tracing of refugee children in Tanzania;
  • Association Managré Nooma Pour la Protections des Orphelins supporting an orphanage in Burkina Faso, West Africa;
  • Tsimbalina Children's Hospital, offering medical care for street children in St. Petersburg, Russia;
  • Maiti Nepal which provides a transit home for girls intercepted from sex traffickers in Katmandu, Nepal;
  • Fondacion Amigos de Jesus y Maria, which provides pre-school, literacy classes in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Bogotá.

This year we are pleased to introduce a new grant category, “Ending HIV/AIDS Projects that will assist in halting and reversing the spread HIV/AIDS, a UN Millennium Goal, through education, prevention, or treatment.
